3rd year student shortlisted for Prize for Illustration 2017 – Sounds of the City
Well done to our third year student Lucy Waldman for being shortlisted for the Prize for Illustration 2017! The competition is set yearly by the AOI and the London Transport museum and this year's theme was Sounds of the City. Lucy's poster featured colourful 3D structures and will be shown among the 100 selected illustrators at the London Transport Museum next year.

Visiting Lecturer: Lizzy Stuart
Lizzy Stuart's talk and workshop was one of the favourites this year! Lizzy spoke about many of her experiences in her illustration journey so far and shared some of the best moments but also some tough ones. We had an exclusive peak into her new book There's a tiger in the Garden , one day after she got it in the post and it looked beautiful

Moving image: 1-day pilgrimage
Nice moving image piece from the Year 1 illustrators that went on an one-day pilgrimage to Waverley Abbey.
Visiting Lecturer: Vanessa Rolf
An amazing day with textile artist & designer Vanessa Rolf, who worked with the third year illustrators over a two week workshop. Vanessa's work includes personal projects, commissions, residencies and workshops and her visual work is accompanied with in-depth research into some fascinating themes.

So much fun to have Esther McManus around for two days, as part of an experimental drawing and narrative workshop! The students spent some time exchanging quick sketches and quotes between them, resulting in some wacky storylines and juxtapositions. The third day of the workshop tutor Iro Tsavala and the students worked together to collect the material and create five riso-printed group publications.

Visiting Lecturer: Nancy Campbell
It was a pleasure to have Nancy Campbell with us earlier this year, who gave a talk about her artist's books and residencies.
With a background in literature, Nancy's multidisciplinary practice includes thoughtful handmade books and poetry and has taken her to artists's residencies as far as Greenland and Iceland. Some of her books are the result of collaborative projects with other book artists such as Mette-Sofie D. Ambeck and Sara Bodman.
