Illustration tutor Robin Chevalier is part of an exciting exhibition at the House of Illustration; imaginatively illustrated envelopes have been collected from around the world to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Penny Black, the world's first potage stamp.

Matilda Tristram - Workshop

A tablefull of zines and short stories created by the 1st year illustrators as part of Matilda Tristram's workshop. There were only a few hours to write and draw all the zines but the results were spontaneous and refreshingly original!

Matilda also gave a talk and showed her work, comics and short films, and brought along her huge collection of small comics and zines, accumulated over the years. Check out Matilda's website

Visiting Lecturer - Ben Cain

Illustration course alumnus Ben Cain gave a very personal and insightful talk to current third years.
It was great to hear Ben talk about the thoughts he had as a student and how his career keeps taking different directions after his graduation eight or so years ago.
Ben has produced books for the Folio Society, as well as a variety of editorial commissions but he is also involved with a lot of graphic design work. A very interesting perspective of the range of work that illustrators can be part of.

Risograph Workshop with Esther McManus

An excellent workshop with Esther McManus, looking at lots of great publications and making colourful risograph zines. The students chose two colours each to make 4 panel comics on their favourite films so we had a 'film night' on paper!

Getting into grips with our new riso printer...
